When someone walks through our doors (or logs into a virtual session) they are often at a crossroads. Maybe they are wrestling with anxiety that will not quiet, a marriage that feels beyond repair, or grief that is reshaping their entire world. They are looking for someone who truly understands them.
At Greenwich Advanced Counseling, we believe effective therapy must honor the whole person—your values, your beliefs, your story, your relationships. All the things that matter most to you make shape who you are and who you hope to become. As a result, we have built our practice around the conviction that healing happens when people feel fully seen and supported, not asked to compartmentalize who they are.
**Our Beginning: A Vision for Comprehensive Care**
Greenwich Advanced Counseling was founded on a straightforward principle: people deserve access to excellent mental health care that treats them as complete human beings. We set out to create a counseling center where clinical excellence meets genuine understanding of each person’s unique context and values.
Today, our team of licensed therapists brings over 100 years of combined experience to this vision. Each holds a master’s degree, maintains full licensure in Connecticut and New York, and participates in ongoing supervision and continuing education. What sets our therapists apart is their willingness to meet clients exactly where they are—whether that includes their spiritual life, cultural background, or individual way of making sense of the world.
**Advanced Means Going Deeper**
When we chose the word “advanced” for our name, we were thinking about depth. Advanced therapy means we don’t settle for surface-level solutions. We draw from diverse therapeutic models—from evidence-based approaches like EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy to insights from psychology’s rich history. We create comprehensive assessments and customized treatment plans, matching each person with a therapist whose expertise aligns with their specific needs.
For clients who value their faith, we provide therapists who can integrate that dimension naturally into their work—you won’t have to choose between quality clinical care and honoring your beliefs. Our commitment to whole-person care means seeing each individual in their full complexity: relationships, work, community, personal history, and the values that guide them.
**Making Mental Health Care Accessible**
Even the most sophisticated therapy does not help anyone if it is financially out of reach. In Fairfield County, where the cost of living ranks among the highest in the nation, the price of mental health care has become a genuine barrier for many families.
This is why accessibility is central to our mission. We know the frustration of finding the right therapist only to discover they’re out of your price range or do not take your insurance. Too many people delay care, settle for the wrong fit, or go without because they can’t afford treatment.
This is why we structure our practice differently. While we do not accept insurance directly (for reasons I’ll explain in another blog post), we do provide receipts for out-of-network reimbursement and we offer a tiered pricing structure that makes our services accessible regardless of ability to pay. Our sliding scale and financial assistance options ensure that monetary constraints do not determine who gets help.
Our commitment to affordability stems from our fundamental belief: mental health care is not a luxury. When someone is struggling with depression, when a marriage is unraveling, when trauma is making daily life unbearable—these are not problems that can or should wait. They are human needs that deserve immediate, compassionate attention.
**Meeting You Where You Are**
Whether you are a teenager, a parent feeling overwhelmed, or someone processing life’s accumulating losses, we have therapists who specialize in your stage of life. We work with individuals, couples, and families, addressing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, addiction, and relationship struggles.
Our therapists’ backgrounds are diverse—from supporting first responders after 9/11 to guiding individuals through profound grief to helping parents and couples navigate life’s challenges. Whatever you are facing, you wll work with someone who understands the terrain.
We offer both in-person sessions at our Greenwich location and virtual appointments. Our Clinical Director helps match each person with the right therapist, and most new clients have appointments within a week or two of reaching out.
**Walking Alongside You**
The path to healing is not always straightforward, but you do not have to walk it alone. At Greenwich Advanced Counseling, we are committed to staying alongside you—honoring who you are, respecting your story, and ensuring financial barriers do not stand between you and the care you deserve.
This is what advanced therapy means: treating the whole person, removing obstacles to care, and believing that everyone deserves access to excellent mental health care. If you are considering therapy, we are ready to partner with you.
